Alien alumna Sigourney Weaver is set to return in the three upcoming Avatar sequels, this time as a “different” and “in many ways more challenging” character. Deadline reports that Weaver is the second star to be brought back in spite of the death of their original persona, the first being actor Stephen Lang who played the main antagonist in the last movie. No specifics have been given in regards to what role Weaver will play. Director James Cameron will be filming all three Avatar sequels back-to-back. The first movie is slated for release in December 2016, with the next two scheduled for 2017 and 2018 debuts.
Despite dying in ‘Avatar,’ Sigourney Weaver will appear in the sequels
